Winning piece in the Guardian travel writing competition

Robin Hood's Bay

My piece ‘Digging for treasure on a Yorkshire beach’ has won the Guardian’s 2013 travel writing competition for family holidays.

You can read it at the Guardian website here. It’s also in today’s paper alongside some great travel stories from other prize-winning readers.

I learned earlier in the week I’d been short-listed and sent some photos through to the newspaper’s picture desk. I got the great news on Thursday and it was a brilliant feeling picking up the paper in town today. Our prize is a week in the French Alps next summer and we can’t wait to go…..and write about it
