Mayas on the Mersey

The Mayas exhibition – Revelation of an Endless Time – is recommended for summer school holiday visits.

We’ve been to the World Museum in Liverpool on numerous occasions. It has a great aquarium with rock-pools and information on native as well as tropical species and much more besides.

Liverpool is rightly proud to get this exhibition and there are 385 objects including carvings, jewellery and death masks.

The Mayas used jade, coral and shells to stunning decorative effect. For a civilization in existence from c.1000BC to 1000AD their achievements are incredible.

Entry is free and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.

The exhibition runs until October 18 and is produced by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) in Mexico, and is part of the 2015 ‘Year of Mexico in the United Kingdom’ and ‘Year of the United Kingdom in Mexico’.

Well done Liverpool and the World Museum….

Well done to them for getting the exhibition, and free entry too. The Maya artifacts are certainly fascinating, and I am grateful to them that their calendar did not foretell the end of the world in 2012, after all!
    Cheers mate. Pete.
