Following on from my last post here’s the building site. We have had heavy rain but nothing like Scotland and other parts of the UK and yet the lane is like a stream.
Flooding is a serious issue here but still they continue to plan inadequately.
So if you’re keen on a new build 4 bed you currently get a swimming pool thrown in for free.
Four days after and they’re pumping floodwater from one field into another. This land will continue to flood but they’ll build on it regardless.

We’ve had a major flood in Stapleford today. Many ruined homes, marvellous responses from The Fire Services of both Nottingham and Derby, lots of good community spirit and concern. Fortunately the flood waters did not reach us! A neighbour, who moved here 60 years ago, had never seen the like before. It’s nice to have a canal and a river within about 300 yards, but not so nice when they try to get much closer.
Oh dear. Glad you’re safe and well Peter. Yes driving back from Stoke the Trent is covering meadows and burst its banks everywhere (and it’s a much smaller river here)!
